Ojo de Agua Entrance Fee : $5 per person
After a few hours swimming in the Ojo de Agua cristal clear water pools, a delicious meal & some good laughs we get back on the motorcycles to ride around the island, stopping here & there to rest our butts, explore small villages & take some amazing photos.
Keep your eyes open for howler & white faced monkeys in the trees!
Our motorcycle adventure on Ometepe comes to an end in Mayogalpa, where we enjoy a fun evening having dinner & drinks together in the quaint island village.
We spend the night at our good friend’s Yogi’s Hostel & in the morning we enjoy breakfast & coffee in Mayogalpa as we wait for the ferry.
From San Juan del sur, we ride directly to the San Jorge Ferry Terminal.
Ferry Cost : ± $6 (1 Motorcycle + 1 Person)
Duration : 1.5 hour
As we approach the island, take out your camera & be ready for everyone’s favorite photo spot; the magnificent view from the water of the majestic volcanoes Maderas & Concepcion. Drinks & light snacks available on the ferry.
Our first stop once we have reached the beautiful Isla Ometepe is at the popular swimming pools of Ojo de Agua for cold drinks, lunch & some good old R&R.
We head back to Granada to watch the sun set over the gorgeous colonial city. Arriving at the Oasis hostel, we splash around in the pool before getting ready to go enjoy a succulent dinner in one of the many great restaurants in Granada.
After dinner, we walk around and explore the picturesque colonial town center of Granada. Don’t forget your cameras, as it is the perfect time to take pictures of the many street performers as well as the fascinating colonial buildings with their magical night lighting.
In the morning, after a yummy free pancake and coffee breakfast at the Oasis Hostel, we casually ride back to San Juan del Sur.
From San Juan del Sur we either take the scenic route or the Pan American Highway to Rivas, where we stop for a delicious Traditional Nicaraguan Breakfast.
Later, we have a quick layover in Nandaime to rest our butts and quench our thirst with a cold beverage, then continue en route to Granada, with a spectacular view of the Volcanoes Mombacho and Concepcion in the background.
After checking in at the Oasis Hostel, we get back on our motos and head to the Laguna de Apoyo where we spend the afternoon hanging out, enjoying lunch and swimming in the crystal clear waters at one of the many Laguna de Apoyo resorts.
At 2:30pm it’s time to board the catamaran for an exciting Sunset Adventure Cruise with optional cliff diving & cave swimming. Relax, have a good time, enjoy the view, take some photos, have a few cold drinks on the house and watch the sunset; all this and more, from the comfort of a gorgeous catamaran floating in the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.
Cost of Cruise: $25 per person
After an amazing sunset cruise, it’s time to get back to the hotel for dinner, after which we spent the evening hanging out and sharing stories and laughs with a cold nicaraguan beer in our hand around a warm bonfire on the beach.
From San Juan del Sur, we leisurely make our way to Rivas, the perfect example of a typical Nicaraguan town, where we sit down at a local restaurant to experience a delicious authentic Nicaraguan breakfast. With a full stomach, the group then explores the scenic route to San Jorge on our way to Lake Nicaragua, the largest lake in Central America.
Once we arrive on the shores of Lake Nicaragua, it’s time let our hair down, go wild and have a bit of fun riding freely offroad on its beautiful sandy beaches.
After an Exhilarating Offroad Ride on the sandy beaches of Lake Nicaragua, we weave our way to the Pacific coast through small towns and villages. Upon arriving at Gigante Bay, we check in at the Gigante Bay Beachfront Hostel.
